What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This achingly beautiful love story masterfully weaves together past and present as well as fiction and fact. Set in both modern Ireland and revolutionary Ireland of the early 1920s, Amy Harmon creates a vision of both worlds through her words. I have never visited, but I felt like I could see the lush green hillsides and the mist rolling across the lough. The descriptions of biting cold and wet fall are juxtaposed perfectly with the strife of civil war. I fell in love with Ms. Harmon’s main character, Anne, and her supporting characters Thomas, Eoin, and Michael Collins, who was based on a true-to-life player in the Irish revolution from Brittain. The characters, dialogue, and action all made me hope the book would never end. I don’t give 5-star reviews often, but I adore this story and could not find fault anywhere. I highly recommend it!
